Four providers on the marketplace list an option whose name includes “Free Trail”: AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud and Tencent Cloud. These are the accounts people look at first when they want to evaluate a platform before committing. They are not identical. Two state a credit amount in the option name, two do not, and each provider’s trial mechanics differ. This piece sets the four listings side by side so you can pick by fit rather than by name.
What these options are
AWS Free Trail, listed at $25 on the Buy AWS Account page, is the entry point to AWS. New AWS accounts typically begin with a Free Tier that centers on promotional credits applied against eligible charges, moving to pay-as-you-go once credits are exhausted or the window ends.
Azure Free Trail $200 Credit Account, listed at $35 on the Buy Azure Account page, carries a $200 balance for Azure services. It sits alongside the Azure Student $100 Credit Account at $25 and the Azure Pay-As-you-Go Account at $40.
Oracle Free Trail $300 Credit Account, listed at $45 on the Buy Oracle Cloud Account page, is a tenancy with the time-limited trial credit plus Oracle’s Always Free resources, which continue within defined limits after the credit ends.
Tencent Cloud Free Trail Account, listed at $40 on the Buy Tencent Cloud Account page, opens Tencent’s multi-region platform centered on Cloud Virtual Machine, with a Pay As you Go Account listed at $55 as the follow-on.
Key differences
- Stated balance. Azure ($200) and Oracle ($300) put the credit in the option name. The AWS and Tencent listings do not state a balance, so confirm what each carries at purchase.
- What happens after the trial. Oracle keeps Always Free resources running within limits. AWS, Azure and Tencent move to standard pay-as-you-go pricing when the trial ends, provided a payment method is attached.
- Price spread. The four listings run from $25 (AWS) to $45 (Oracle), a narrow band given the difference in what they carry.
- Regional emphasis. Tencent Cloud stands out for mainland China and Asia-Pacific reach. The other three are broadly global; Oracle fixes a permanent home region at sign-up.
Account options compared
The table shows each Free Trail listing with its price, stated credit, typical fit and the natural next step on the same provider. Read the “Stated credit” row carefully: “Not listed” means the option name does not include a balance, not that the account has none. Fit by use case
- Surveying the largest catalog. AWS Free Trail is the cheapest way here to explore the widest range of services before choosing a vCPU or credit tier.
- Microsoft-centric evaluation. The Azure Free Trail $200 Credit Account suits a team testing Windows, SQL or Entra ID integration; compare it with the student and pay-as-you-go options in Azure student and trial credits.
- Database and Arm experiments. Oracle’s trial pairs the largest stated credit with Always Free capacity, which appeals to database-centric and Arm-curious teams.
- Asia-Pacific evaluation. The Tencent Cloud Free Trail Account is the right starting point for teams with users in mainland China or nearby markets; see Tencent trial versus pay-as-you-go.
Considerations and limitations
Trial credits are time-limited on every platform and apply only to eligible services. Quotas start conservatively, and GPU or larger compute families usually need an increase request that trial accounts may not receive. Oracle’s Always Free shapes can be out of capacity in busy regions.
A trial account acquired through the marketplace should be operated as your own from day one: update contact and payment details, enable multi-factor authentication, review existing users and keys and follow the provider’s terms. Trials are for evaluation; plan the move to a paid tier before the credit runs out. See the AWS, Azure, Oracle and Tencent Cloud sections of the Cloud FAQ for provider-specific questions.
